San Antonio Spurs WCF Offense

For a team that gets labeled boring by NBA fans across the country, the San Antonio Spurs are a joy to watch if you really like studying the game. All of their actions set up a counter, and all of their players have bought into their style of play. Manu Ginobili comes off the bench for the Spurs so Danny Green can start…If that isn’t a true sign of buying in for the team I don’t know what else is. Today we look at near four minutes of Spurs offense from their 4-0 series sweep of the Memphis Grizzlies. Spurs Old Logo After watching and re-watching the four games from the WCF I came to a few conclusions about the Spurs. 1.) Tony Parker is the best Point Guard in the NBA. 2.) They do an outstanding job of getting the guys the ball in their best scoring position. Ex. Letting Parker give the ball up run off three screens, then catch on the side so he can run a side cleared side ball screen for a pick n pop with Duncan. 3.) They run the floor hard. Leonard & Green sprint the wing, and even at the age of 37 Tim Duncan beat the Grizzlies down the floor multiple times. This puts a ton of pressure on the defense and sets up their secondary offenses. Check out the WCF video here, San Antonio Spurs WCF Offense. I’ve included PDF play diagrams of every set in order with the video here, San Antonio Spurs WCF Sets

I had to put the old school Spurs Logo in there!
